Heroes & Inspirations
We’re all asked at one point or another about who we’re inspired by, no matter the industry. I wanted to answer that question.
Peter Mckinnon
Peter Mckinnon is a photographer & filmmaker based in Toronto, Canada. He posts videos to YouTube teaching about photography and cinematography. For me, his videos have become a great resource that have helped me with different projects I had been working on. His work as well as his teachings have helped me become stronger in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Mckinnon’s highly detailed videos can be used to help any photographer, no matter what.
"I want to inspire my audience and fill them with a sense of hope and drive. I have been exactly where they are and know exactly how they feel."
-Peter Mckinnon
Cory Arcangel
Cory Arcangel is a digital artist based in Stavanger, Norway. His work includes different mediums as well as exploring the relationship between digital technology and pop culture. His works definitely stand out among the rest, making him an outsider. His approach to modifying video games and creating other technology-based works exudes the modernistic ways of the digital art world. Cory Arcangel has also made a great dent in the video game world with his modifications to popular video games such as Super Mario and Tetris.
Cory Arcangel’s work is a blend of older styles combined with modern ideas. His modifications to video games allow new perspectives on these games to be made. While his entire collection of work goes all over the design map, his design style represents each piece of the digital art theme. Some of his work allows people to edit his work to see a different possible result, which is gracious and very trusting – because anyone can edit it however they want.
"Keep doing what you like to do. That's all it is."
-Cory Arcangel
Chris Burkard
Chris Burkard is a photographer, explorer, creative director, speaker, and author. His main goal is to promote the consideration of one’s connection with nature. I’ve been inspired by him for years, and his work is always something I turn to when I need a bit of inspiration. His work is inviting, comforting, and makes you wonder.
Every time I see a photo of his, I wonder where in the world it is and how one can get there. I think about what the surrounding areas might look like, and paint a picture in my head. His work is just so glorious and moving, and it makes you feel like you’re right there taking the shot. Although I can only dream of taking a picture as beautiful as any of Chris Burkard’s photos.
"Photography allows you to be a part of the action and document stories. It is a perfect extension of my body. I can take it pretty much anywhere and tell a story with a photograph."
-Chris Burkard
Michelangelo
Michelangelo was an Italian sculptor, painter, and architect. He strived to depict his faith and religion in each piece he created. He enjoyed expressing his faith, which allowed him to truly excel. He was inspired by every aspect of the Bible, which allows him to fit right into the heart of the Renaissance era.
Michelangelo was such an incredible artist, putting so much detail into every square inch of his pieces. His intricate works were and still are loved by all those who see his works. His work set the stakes super high for all the artists that followed and continue to follow.
